CALGARY- Police are scouring a video that could help them investigate a serious crash that sent four people to hospital.
Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, a BMW ran a red light and hit a Honda Odyssey in the intersection of 52 St. and 61 Ave. S.E. The driver of the minivan and passenger in the BMW were seriously injured.
Police are now looking at a video sent to Global News that shows what appears to be the same BMW at a gathering near where the crash happened. A driver on that video could be charged with stunting, and police say such activities put the general public at risk.
“Never mind the safety of the occupants, the citizens minding their own business. Pedestrians, bicycles, you name it, there are couriers, all kinds of things,” says Insp. Ken Thrower from the Calgary Police Service. “It’s a 24 hour city now…anywhere in the city you’re going to have activity and people out there, and you don’t want the racers, people driving vehicles, anyone to be harmed.”
Officers are now examining security video in the area.
