KINGSTON, Ont. – Police and the local coroner’s office are continuing to investigate the death of a pedestrian struck by a Via Rail train in Kingston, Ont.
The incident happened around noon Sunday just east of the city and the eastbound train was stopped for about five hours while authorities investigated.

Police say service resumed shortly before 5 p.m.
A Via Rail spokeswoman said Sunday that the train was travelling from Toronto to Ottawa and Montreal, and was carrying 395 passengers.
Police say the victim is believed to be a Kingston-area man but his identity still needs to be confirmed.
Investigators say the death is not believed to be suspicious in nature.
