VERNON, B.C. – An officer on routine patrol came across a serious accident scene in Vernon Thursday night at 11:45 P.M. where two teens were trapped in a mangled car.
The driver, 17, and his 16-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and broken bones when their vehicle struck a power pole.

Both were transported by ambulance to Vernon Jubilee Hospital after being extracted from the vehicle by the Vernon Fire Department.
The power pole at 20th Street and Silver Star Road was inspected by B.C. Hydro following the accident.
RCMP do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash and continue to investigate.
A traffic analyst is involved in the investigation due to the seriousness of their injuries.
