QEW highway going towards Niagara reopens

BURLINGTON, Ont. – The QEW lanes bound for Fort Erie north of Hamilton have reopened after being closed for most of the day for a police investigation into the death of a female pedestrian.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Dave Woodford says the pedestrian was hit by a car.

He says police are treating the area as a crime scene.

The closure was in the Eastport Drive area of Burlington, where cars were being forced off the QEW.

The highway had been closed since around 7 a.m. this morning, creating traffic problems for travellers.
