SASKATOON – A fire is under investigation after a garage burst into flames early Sunday morning in Saskatoon’s King George neighbourhood.
At 1:45 a.m., the Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls about heavy smoke and fire coming from 718 Weldon Avenue.
Crews were quickly on scene and found a single car garage behind the home fully involved in flames.
Firefighters utilized handheld hoses and fire-suppressing foam to have the blaze under control in under an hour.
Assistant Fire Chief Morgan Hackl says the fire started in a vehicle outside the garage and then spread to the structure. Another car in the garage was destroyed.
A preliminary estimate set the damage at $15,000.
The fire is considered suspicious in nature and the cause is unknown at this time.
No injuries were reported.
