PELICAN NARROWS, Sask. – An early Saturday morning incident in Pelican Narrows, Sask. left three teens with gunshot wounds.
Mounties were called to a disturbance of around 20 people attempting to smash windows at a home on Jan Street just before 4:30 a.m.
Three teenagers suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital in Flin Flon General Hospital. The victims, aged 14, 15 and 19, have all been released.
An investigation revealed a 29-year-old man exited the home on Jan Street with a .22 rifle and began randomly firing at a group of people.
Travis Sewap, 29, was quickly arrested without incident and the firearm was seized by police.
He’s charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, discharging a firearm with intent and three counts of assault with a weapon.
Alcohol is considered a factor.
Sewap is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
“There were several get-togethers going on in the community. I know they had their graduation on Friday so there were several events or gatherings in the area at the time of the incident,” said RCMP spokesperson Mandy Maier.
The investigation is ongoing.
