LETHBRIDGE – A young Lethbridge man has died after falling out of a moving truck.
It happened in the area of 9 Ave. and 5 St. South around 4 a.m. Friday.
Police say 22-year-old Hayden Reeves Heavy Shields was riding in the box of a pick-up truck when he fell out and hit his head.
He was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with life-threatening head injuries, before being flown via STARS air ambulance to Foothills Hospital in Calgary, where he died Saturday.
Officers originally charged the 19-year-old driver of the truck, Venessa Lilian Francis with one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Because the victim later died of his injuries, upgraded charges are pending.
Francis is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.
