VANCOUVER – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the man who died in Agassiz on June 7 has now been identified as 27-year-old Curtis Gower of Mission.
Sgt. Bari Eham of IHIT says that around 4 a.m. on June 7, emergency personnel received a call from Gower and his friend who were attempting to get him to the hospital. Police and ambulance intercepted the duo and took Gower to hospital, where he died from his injuries later that day. IHIT took over the investigation later that afternoon.
One man was in custody and Sgt. Eham says, “both the victim and suspect are long-time associates – they’re known to each other. This doesn’t appear to be a random act or anything like that.”
There have been no charges laid at this time and the man who was arrested was released from police custody on Sunday.
“Our investigation continues and it will take us some time to gather and analyze all the facts surrounding this incident to understand the full picture,” says Emam.
