PC House Leader Jim Wilson was first elected to Simcoe West in 1990 and has held a seat in this region ever since. He was re-elected in 2011 by almost 15,000 votes.

By the numbers

The district’s population grew by 6.8% from 2006 to 2011, the fourth-largest increase of any rural Ontario riding. English is the first language of 89.3% of people.
