A motorcyclist has died after a head-on crash on Highway 5 about 10 kilometres south of Barriere Saturday morning.
RCMP say the male driver, who had a learner’s licence, was attempting to pass a tractor-trailer on the two-lane highway at around 7:30 a.m.
He has been identified as 34-year-old Kurtis James Genier of Barriere.
The motorcycle hit another vehicle head-on and died at the scene. Occupants of the other vehicle were taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer did not stop at the scene and RCMP are hoping to speak with that person.
The highway was closed for several hours Saturday, but has since re-opened.
