MONTREAL – Police have arrested four suspects after a home invasion in the neighbourhood of Côte-St-Paul.
According to police spokesperson Simon Delorme, three men tried to steal a personal electronic device from an apartment on De l’Église Avenue.
At around 1:30 a.m., they broke into the home, where three people, two men and a woman lived.
During the break-in, the suspects struggled with one of the occupants, who was beaten with a blunt object.
The 21-year-old man was transferred to hospital, where he is recovering from his injuries. Delorme said that authorities do not fear for his life.

The police arrived on the scene after receiving a 9-1-1 call and quickly arrested three suspects and an accomplice who was waiting outside of the apartment.
The four suspects, aged between 19 and 22, have been arrested.
All four were known to police.
A canine unit was brought to the scene during the arrests because police discovered a suspicious device during a personal search of one of the suspects.
The mechanism had characteristics similar to an explosive device, which is why the bomb squad was called in to investigate.
“The package was neutralized at around 7 a.m. this morning,” said Delorme.
He also noted that the four suspects are expected to appear in court Thursday afternoon to face charges of assault and break and enter.
