“He should think about buying a lottery ticket.”
That’s what Vancouver police acting Sgt. Dan Arbas said after a man came into contact with an electrical transformer high above the street near 177 East Hastings in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Witnesses say they heard what they thought was a gunshot and saw the man lying on the transformer platform with his legs twitching.
The man got up and climbed scaffolding of a building under renovation where emergency officials spotted him running around on the roof.
Construction worker Keenan Todd says, “We thought the guy was dead but he started twitching then he booked it up our scaffolding… wow… frightening!”
The man was not working on the site and may have crawled on the platform from a nearby window.
He has been taken to hospital for treatment of burns and is expected to make a full recovery.
