Geography
Nipissing extends east from the centre of Lake Nipissing to the Quebec border. North Bay is the dominant population centre but there are a number of small towns in the moderately-sized rural riding.
History
The longtime riding of former premier Mike Harris, Nipissing went back to the PCs in 2011 with the election of Vic Fedeli, who defeated the Liberal candidate by more than 6,500 votes. Fedeli, the former mayor of North Bay, replaced Liberal MPP Monique Smith, who stepped down after two terms.
By the numbers
Just 6.6 per cent of residents in Nipissing-Timiskaming identified as first generation Canadians in the 2011 census, lower than all but five federal ridings in Ontario.
Riding in a tweet
The popular Fedeli put Nipissing back in the PC camp last election, and looks set to keep it there this time around.
