SASKATOON – There has been a major development in the murder trial of David Woods, accused of killing his wife Dorothy Woods.

In a document filed in court, Woods admitted to being the driver of a red Dodge Dakota that drove out to the Blackstrap Lake area on Jan. 2, 2012, two days before police found her body in a culvert in the same area.

The admission came one day after the jury followed the route taken by Woods.

Police had hidden a GPS tracking unit in his truck to track his movements.

Until now, the Crown has struggled to prove Woods was the driver of the truck, but now it is an agreed fact.

Woods’ lawyer told Global News he will not speak about the admission until the trial concludes.
