UPDATE: Escaped inmate back in custody at Bowden Institution

CALGARY – RCMP say Maurice Rondeau is back in custody at Bowden Institution after a short run to freedom Sunday night.

Rondeau, who is 64, was unaccounted for when guards made their rounds around 4:30 p.m.

Officials say Rondeau was found by officers with sniffer dogs near a farmer’s field at 10:35 p.m.

He is currently serving a three year sentence for sexual interference.

Police say he will face additional charges in the escape.
