Lockdown at Saskatchewan Penitentiary maximum security unit

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Three people were injured Tuesday night at Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert.

Around 7:50 p.m., two correction officers were assaulted in the maximum security unit.

An inmate was also injured during the incident.

They all received medical treatment at an outside hospital and have since been released.

Saskatchewan Penitentiary’s acting warden ordered a lockdown of the maximum security unit, suspending all visits until further notice.

Normal activities will resume once it is considered safe.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will investigate the incident along with RCMP.
