Man arrested in Nova Scotia in murder of a B.C. couple 3 years ago

VANCOUVER – A second man has been arrested in a double murder in Mission, B.C. three years ago.

Twenty-five-year-old Justin Andrew Mackinnon was picked up in Syndey, Nova Scotia and will be brought back to B.C. for an appearance in provincial court in Abbotsford on Monday.

He’s accused of two counts of first degree murder in the shooting deaths of 37-year-old Lisa Dudley and her 33-year-old boyfriend Guthrie Jolan McKay in 2008.

Earlier, 52-year-old Jack Douglas Woodruff of Surrey was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths, in which the RCMP were criticized for not responding thoroughly to the initial report of shots being fired.

The officer sent to the scene did not check inside the house, where McKay was dead but Dudley was clinging to life.

Several days later a neighbour found Dudley and an ambulance was called, but she died on the way to hospital.
