OTTAWA – Higher gas prices were the driving force behind an increase in Saskatchewan’s annual inflation rate.
Statistics Canada reported Thursday the rate of inflation for March was 2.8 per cent, up five-tenths of a point from February.

On a month-to-month basis, prices rose 0.6 per cent in the province.
Nationally, the annual inflation rate rose four-tenths of a point to 1.5 per cent behind higher gas and energy prices.
