OKANAGAN — After serving the Okanagan-Shuswap in his federal role for nearly a decade, Conservative Member of Parliament Colin Mayes is calling it quits.

“After speaking with my family and close friends, I have decided not to seek re-election in 2015,” said Mayes in a news release issued Friday.

“This has been a difficult decision for me but at this point in my life I believe it is time to move on and spend time in the beautiful Okanagan – Shuswap that I love. ”

Mayes said he will finish his last term which ends in October 2015.
