CALGARY- A politician who once came under fire for his anti-gay views has announced he’s seeking the Progressive Conservative party nomination in Calgary riding.
Back in 2007, a complaint was filed to the Alberta Human Rights Commission against Craig Chandler, about anti-gay material on his radio show website.
As a result, the PC party—then led by Ed Stelmach—voted not to endorse Chandler for the Calgary-Edgemont riding. Chandler then ran as an Independent, and lost.
Chandler says he is a founding member of the Wildrose Party but party leader Danielle Smith denies this and says Chandler is not welcome at party events.
On Wednesday night, Chandler announced his intention to seek the PC nomination in Calgary Shaw.
