A Kelowna orchardist is the first to be granted a permit to operate an RV site on his property under the agri-tourism bylaw.
Karma Gill plans to open a 9 RV stall site in the summer of 2015. The RV site will also include a fruit stand and an activity centre to teach visitors more about the farming industry.
The city created the bylaw to regulate the industry. More than a dozen orchard RV sites had randomly popped up in recent years . This allows the city to control who opens such RV sites in the future and where.
Critics hope the city enforces the guidelines of the bylaw to make sure operators follow all of the rules.
