South Shore high school shows off its cultural diversity

GREENFIELD PARK, Que. – Centennial Regional High School prides itself on a number of things: its sports team, its academic accomplishments and, especially, its  cultural diversity.

The school’s annual country fair gives students the opportunity to take a trip around the world without leaving the building.

“They’re really interested in learning about the culture and experiencing the food,” said teacher Nadine Maglia.

“And they’re proud to be part of the school.”

Over 200 students participate on a volunteer basis.

“Students do this entirely on their own time, they get no school credit, so it’s really them who dedicate their time on their own,” said student coordinator Andrew Chung.

From music, to dance, to fashionistas showing off their traditional clothing, the fair showcases it all.
