TORONTO — Collins Key is touring with pop star Demi Lovato, performing in packed arenas and eliciting screams from thousands of young girls — but he doesn’t sing a note.
Key is a magician.
Lovato was so impressed she invited him to warm-up the crowds on her Neon Lights tour.

Key exploded into pop culture as a finalist on the eighth season of America’s Got Talent, where his tricks amazed and bewildered millions of viewers and a panel of celebrity judges that included Canada’s Howie Mandel.
“I started when I was 12 years old. I picked up a book and it just seemed like something really cool to do,” said the lanky 17-year-old during an appearance on Global’s The Morning Show.
Key seems like a natural fit for a pop music tour given that he draws inspiration more from the likes of Will Smith and Michael Jackson than from veteran illusionists like David Copperfield and David Blaine.
He said he’d love to perform tricks for rapper Kanye West.
“Just to see his reaction,” said Key. “That would be kind of fun.”
