SASKATOON – The number of water main breaks continue to rise in Saskatoon and one of the latest is cancelling classes at an elementary school.

Classes at St. Philip School in the Haultain neighbourhood are cancelled on Tuesday as water will be turned off to the school while crews work on a water main break in the area.

The number of breaks in the city has risen to 166 since the beginning of the year.

People in affected areas can continue to anticipate a wait time of three to seven days for repairs.

Bottled water is being delivered to affected households and free access to leisure centres is also being offers.

The city has budgeted around $6.5 million for water main operations and maintenance in 2014, which would cover approximately 250 to 275 breaks.
