B.C. Premier-designate Lorne Doerkson says he is committed to keeping every campaign promise he made leading up to his party’s provincial election victory.
In a one-on-one interview with Global News, Doerkson said that he wants to be clear about this issue.
“We’re really committed to everything that I promised,” he said.
“It was why during the campaign, you know, we were sluggish to get the platform out because there were a couple of things that, you know I didn’t think we could actually do.
“And so ultimately those things are not in our platform. What I’ve promised in the platform I’m committed to. And in fact, we’ve already had conversations about some of that legislation already.”
Doerkson said the promise of tax relief for British Columbians is one of the most immediate legislative priorities.
“Definitely tax relief, definitely the PST exemption for businesses and definitely, I want to make sure that the PST expansion does not happen because, of course, that had a number of challenges not just for businesses but also potentially seniors and certainly the conversation around property tax deferral.”

Doerkson also still has to choose a cabinet, but he recognizes that only one MLA, Theresa Watt, has sat in a government position before.
Another priority is digging into the province’s books and getting a sense of the deficit, with Doerkson already announcing he wants to appoint an independent financial review panel.
Doerkson also vowed to repeal B.C.’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, which prompted Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs, to say that would be a “declaration of war.”
Doerkson is vowing to grow B.C.’s economy through major resource projects and backing for a new oil pipeline to the B.C. coast, but he knows that moving forward will require First Nations buy-in and participation.
“I appreciate the comments that Mr. Phillips made. I look forward to meeting with him, frankly,” Doerkson said.
“I think he’ll find that, and I have sat in a room with him before, and he would find or certainly know that I’m committed to First Nations in this province and committed to building better relationships.”
And there you go folks, according JV apparently the 75% of BC, who were pole respondents, who want DRIPa amended, suspended or repealed are white trash, including 25% of NDP voters.
This is clear insight into the way the FNs think about the taxpayers and why they don’t want DRIPa repealed.
At BC Rez,
To amend the CON Party constitution in compliance with the BC Society Act or whatever it is it just requires a 2/3 vote. I’d be surprised if the far right’s put up too much of a fight give how popular Lorne seems to be. The party as whole is already is no longer calling him the interim leader, just leader when it’s makes a press release.
Been sitting to close to an Albertan! Ever since you guys moved here….about ten yrs…..we have been in rapid decline!
Ten years NDP! Damn you BCers are DUMB, is it crack , pot, mushrooms, glue? Why are you so DUMB?
God damn white trash
Building a bridge instead of a tunnel to replace the Massey is stupid. Proper engineering favours a tunnel; putting a bridge in there is just political spite, and the bridge supporters are lying about how much it will cost. Choose engineering over politics & build a new tunnel !
(BTW, Anonymous, the original plan by Translink was always for a new tunnel; it was Chisty Clark who changed it to a bridge, the Dippers actually it back to the original plan.)
Scrapping the tunnel when it’s 25% done for The Massey Bridge is just as dumb as the NDP scrapping the original bridge and going back to the tunnel in the first place. All done out of spite. Makes zero sense.
Disgusting how the press seems to have moved on a theme of ‘yes you won a dominating majority but you aren’t actually serious about implementing a platform that was so very popular with your electorate?’. Oh no! Populism! Whatever shall we elites do!
@ bob….now we’re getting somewhere….but that’s if they can amend it, but they all think they should be boss though. Biting their tongue the whole way. I hear you on the other points but Trevor’s in there too plus they’ve already publicly stated they don’t want Doerksen. They dont want / like anyone from BC. ( past examples…. But maybe they changed their tune now? ) The infighting and pouting is unprecedented?! Yes/no? We will see.
Thank you Lorne 👍
The “phone” 😂 😂 😂
I more or less copied and pasted from the various news articles Ai spat out. CBC/CTV etc! 😂
Rustad/Findlay/Brody/Champman (good riddance BTW) all gone so that basically hypothetically leaves Elliot and Milobar if they even choose to contest and so far there is “”zero”” public information, anywhere, on that.
( if you’ve got a link send it) Frankly I’d be fine with Elliot too. But I think she is actually intelligent enough to realise that she wasn’t on the platform as leader when elected.
BTW Look who is twisting now! Girpe all you want, I am only pointing out that you’re doing exactly what you complain about. 😂
You’re a clown!
@ bob the clown…..the CONS have to ” amend” the constitution……which means break the rules and cheat in order to win, or else he has to leave. When Eby took over they didn’t have to amend anything. Look it up you clown! Stick to freedom convoys would ya. Thanks
@ bob…..so the phone and TV are clowns too?! All the news articles? When he gets demoted I won’t say a thing. Him and Danielle. And don’t twist this like a woman. I was pointing out all the complaining and criticizing against Eby. Don’t twist it.Nice try. You guys dish but can’t take. Non stop….now you’re in the seat and don’t want to hear it.
At BC Rez.
You’ve just written about 200 words of bragging, whining and you’re pointing fingers at others? 😂
Making Lorne leader is simple. It’s fully controlled within the party, it’s
rules and guidelines. The board can vote to change the by laws if needed, board can vote him in or simply hold a caucus vote if he goes contested. What ever the options it’s all within the parties control.
You are clueless.
Eby when he took over from Horgan he wasn’t voted in by a party election he was the sole candidate and was just acclaimed the leader.
The same type of thing will happen in the Conservative Party.
Ya clown!
Oh and it’s not just an administrative matter…their trying to find a loophole around it. Why else would they mention the 4 invalid who are in line to takeover?! Half truths with you guys ALWAYS! Just to suite your own make believe world.
@bob….give me a break. Your misfits couldn’t even organize a drunkfest in a brewery. You guys ignore the shootshow of dysfunction.?! Just like a true church goer. The point is yap yap yap and complain and in 6 months nothing will change except the excuses. And for some reason they can b.s. Their way past the 6 month point nothing will have changed either. And just like a church session you’ll put your head in the sand as well and blame and create reasons why. All a conservative wants to do is drive the train….not interested in qualifying just driving. Blown out of the water is an exaggeration but so are you people thinking your the messiahs. We can chat again when you find a boss first. Then start bragging. I’ll ad…I’m not worried, hurt or devastated. I never get worried about the handicapped kid taking over anything. In a very short time all will be revealed that they can’t perform and all will be well again. In the meantime nature will take its course and it will have its own end soon enough.!
Also you guys complain and complain like women and one pushback you have a hissy fit because you think your always right. Have you not seen the comments from Daryl, Daryl, and his other brother Daryl…Not to mention Mike from Canmore on here NON STOP. Backbto the hayfields and the churches you go!
Still waiting for my discounted beer you promised there Lorne!
Good luck Mr. Doerksen, I did not vote for you but if you can survive the declaration of war by the indigenous leader with out caving like everyone else you will get my vote next time. I am tiered of being held hostage by such a small minority that gets paid
no mater what happens.
lets move forward and not sideways
Man BC Resident is one bitter bitter sore loser. 😂 Talk about salty.
Your party got blown out of the water in one of bigger landslide election defeat since Christy Clark won 2001 and all you can cry about the winners who haven’t even taken office yet!
How do you expect any change in a few days when parliament isn’t even session!! 😂
Lorne’sparty head confirmation is a simply an administrative matter. His own party can confirm it in three different and simple ways.
Look it up clown!
Oh and one more….now we see that Kevin Falcon cheated to help this charade along. Another Christy Clark bottom feeder sticking his nose where it dont belong. How much did he get paid for that?!
How’s this work? Mr.Doerkson can’t stay as boss….so that’s 3 leaders and still no boss. Then your back to the falldowns when all fighting began. All with the ” deer in the headlights” look. This is going to go well. Got the contract…but no boss and the employees are clueless. BTW…almost day 5 and my groceries are still expensive and I keep seeing thr homeless! I thought you guys had the solution?! Just waiting for a chance….because it’s just that easy….?!
@ vorhees….we need a go fund me so the brain dead hayseed Albertans go back to their own country. The federal govt has given them enough ( billions and billions) already!
So glad we got rid of the parasitic NDP government. Congratulations BC.
Maybe we could set up a go fund me for indigenous to leave if they don’t like the new government. I’d contribute but I think Eby gave them billions already.
Lorne will do it . Best thing that happened to B.C. in a long time.
Natives have far greater problems than the Premier repealing DRIPA..
Juvenile diabetes and suicide is at crisis levels in First Nations communities…
FN genetics aren’t adapted to a European diet…they should focus on returning to their historical diets…
When I look at the Obituary columns in BC newspapers, I’m surprised at how young many Indigenous people are when they pass on…
We need to be shown how a renewed economy as promised by the new Conservative government will make the cost of living actually decrease.
Coloured monkeys in B.C love A.B

Let’s go to war and settle this F.N.B.S. for good.
Winners take all, losers, what’s left of them, get put on a barge and sent adrift in the Pacific.
If the grand chief wants war I suggest he look a the differences in population size first.
A lot of tough talk from a little old man and population of short fat people.
