VANCOUVER – Rita Chretien has been released from hospital, according to her pastor.
Neil Allenbrand, pastor at the Church of the Nazarene in Penticton, told Castanet News in a video uploaded on Sunday that Chretien has been out for one day and is doing well both mentally and physically.
Allenbrand said he has had "some really good visits" this week with Chretien, who reiterated she had survived the ordeal because of her faith.
"She would say to you she got through it by her trust and faith in the Lord," Allenbrand said. "She felt like her Lord was with her every day. She would say that every day she asked him how she should handle her day, and felt like he was right there guiding her through it and giving her wisdom on what to do."
Chretien was transferred to Penticton Regional Hospital from St. Luke’s Magic Valley hospital in Idaho on May 10.
Chretien’s husband, Albert, remains missing.
