Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada is pledging $100 million in new aid for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The funding includes $80 million in humanitarian aid, while the rest is development funding for security initiatives, including top-up funding for a multi-year project to train Palestinian police.
Carney, who announced the funding on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, says the money is meant to help bring about a two-state solution.

Ottawa has pledged more than $600 million in aid for Palestinian civilians since the Israel-Gaza war started in October 2023.

Neither of those entities existed back in the late 40s when Israel was created via violence, and 60s when it doubled in size. Those two entities were created in response to violence, occupation, and land theft.

It’s interesting that Palestinians can’t afford to support their people while still being able to shoot rockets into Israel. A Hamas Qassan rocket costs $800 and a Hezbollah Burkan rocket costs $400 to produce. Hamas has fired over 19,000 projectiles toward Israel since late 2023 and Hezbollah launched thousands of cross-border rockets. Millions spent on rockets but no money for humanitarian support. I understand that Israel has become the oppressor and should be held responsible for it’s brutality, but Palestinians started this debacle and now want everyone else to help them.
