<p>ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – An industrial inquiry commission has been given more time to complete its report on a protracted strike at the Voisey’s Bay nickel mine in Labrador.</p> <p>The provincial government said today the report is now expected around May 6 or shortly thereafter.</p> <p>Labour Minister Darin King says inquiry chairman John Roil told the government that outside parties needed more time to complete research for the commission.</p> <p>The 17-month strike by 200 workers began in August 2009 with union officials saying wages and benefits were among the major issues in dispute.</p> <p>Mine owner Vale continued operations with help from replacement workers.</p> <p>The workers voted in late January to accept a new four-year contract that offers wage hikes.</p> <p>The final report is expected to offer options on dealing with labour-management relations.</p>
