<p>ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier says she’ll fight to ensure the aspirations of her province are recognized by the new Conservative government.</p> <p>Kathy Dunderdale issued a news release today congratulating Prime Minister Stephen Harper on his majority win.</p> <p>But she also says she wants to ensure the province’s goals are “recognized and respected through definitive action.”</p> <p>During the campaign Harper promised to help back a loan guarantee or provide equivalent financial support for the Lower Churchill hydroelectricity project.</p> <p>The proposed $6.2-billion project would run a subsea cable from Labrador to Newfoundland and across the Cabot Strait to Nova Scotia.</p> <p>Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter also congratulated Stephen Harper and says his government looks forward to working with the Conservatives.</p>
