<p>FREDERICTON – New Brunswick’s transportation minister says there are no safety concerns over a slight movement being detected in one of the concrete supports for an international bridge linking Campobello Island with Lubec, Maine.</p> <p>Claude Williams says the movement was detected by Transportation Department officials last year and later confirmed by staff on the American side of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Bridge.</p> <p>He says consultants are now preparing a report on what repairs may be needed.</p> <p>The bridge is almost 50 years old and ownership is split between New Brunswick and Maine.</p> <p>Williams says New Brunswick is responsible for any work required on its half of the span.</p> <p>Campobello Island – off the southwest coast of New Brunswick – was a summer retreat for former U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt and his family.</p>
