CALGARY – The Calgary Fire Department responded to three grass fires on Wednesday.
Crews battled a fire several square meters wide along Rideau Crescent Southwest shortly before 5:00 Wednesday afternoon.
There was also a fire along Blackfoot Trail near Highfield Boulevard around 11 in the morning. It was about a half of a hockey rink in size.

Shortly after another fire caught crews attention along Blackfoot Trail near the Crossroads Market. That one forced emergency crews to shut down traffic for about an hour while crews extinguished the fire.
Battalion Chief Edward Cornez with the Calgary Fire Department says in places like hillsides, where there is no snow and the grass is exposed to wind and sun – the grass is tinder dry.
