<p>TERREBONNE, Que. – Police say the body of a young child retrieved from a river near Montreal on Tuesday is that of a three-year-old autistic boy who vanished more than a month ago.</p> <p>Laval police spokeswoman Nathalie Lorrain says the parents of Adam Benhamama confirmed his identity when detectives took them to a morgue.</p> <p>The body was found near the banks of the Mille-Iles River in Terrebonne.</p> <p>It was discovered by a citizen further down the same river where the young boy was first believed to have disappeared.</p> <p>”They positively identified their son,” said Lorrain. “It’s the body that was found in the river.”</p> <p>She also says the investigation is officially over, adding that no criminal charges will be laid.</p> <p>”It’s a very unfortunate accident and at least they have a body to bury,” Lorrain added.</p> <p>The boy disappeared April 3 while playing with his seven-year-old sister.</p> <p>His father had momentarily gone inside a friend’s house when he was alerted the boy had vanished.</p> <p>Authorities said the child had a hearing impairment and could make sounds but was non-verbal.</p>
