Olympic cauldron re-lit in support of Canada’s Paralympic team

Brian Coxford, Global News

Vancouver’s Olympic cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza is burning bright again in support of Canada’s Paralympians competing in Sochi this week.

The cauldron was re-lit tonight to mark the Opening Ceremony.

It will also be re-lit for the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, March 16, and every time Team Canada wins gold.

The provincial government was under fire during the Olympics last month after it took anonymous donations to light the cauldron to celebrate the anniversary of the 2010 Winter Games.

Private donations are sponsoring the relighting of the cauldron to mark the Paralympic Games as well.
