CALGARY – A local group has announced plans to turn the city’s former planetarium into a public art gallery.
Contemporary Calgary was one of several applicants fighting for the opportunity to redesign the former Centennial Planetarium in the downtown core.

The planetarium was built in 1967 and later served as Calgary’s Science Centre from the 1980s until the TELUS World of Science vacated the building in 2011.
The City of Calgary says because of its cultural and historic significance, they hope the facility will continue to serve the community for years to come.
