Friday was International Dance Day, a day dedicated to the art of dance.
Here in the Okanagan, the occasion was marked with a flash dance mob.
About 40 people spontaneously broke out in a sequence of dance choreography at the Sails in downtown Kelowna.
Dozens of people stood by and watched, many of them unsure of what was going on.
Organizer Angel Jutzi says she hopes the impromptu mob raises more awareness about the importance of dance and the arts in public schools and emphasizes how important it is in developing a cultural identity.
Jutzi says she is planning more flash mob dances for the future but since the element of surprise is a key part, she is not disclosing where and when they will take place.
