Statistics Canada says the economy added a surprise 88,000 jobs in May, partially offsetting employment declines since the start of the year.
The agency says the unemployment rate fell to 6.6 per cent, down from 6.9 per cent in April.

StatCan says employment gains were widespread across industries and concentrated in full-time work.
Construction led the way with a gain of 27,000 jobs last month, while the wholesale and retail trade sector lost 35,000 positions.
Economists had expected a gain of 10,000 jobs heading into the May report.
StatCan also says young workers aged 15 to 24 saw a big lift in full-time jobs in May as youth see a better start to the summer jobs season this year compared with the tough labour market of 2025.
You can’t inflate job numbers based on temporary foreign workers!!! That is misleading the Canadian public! Do better!
See: spike related to summer, businesses that do the most business in the summer months, because the businesses let go of staff during the off months because the economy cannot sustain regular, full-time employment throughout the year.
But, lets pretend its an example of success for government to lie about basic economic principles because it offends their ego.

These jobs are summer jobs and world cup temporary jobs. Absolutely nothing to do with anything Carney has done. They happen every summer and usually go to young Canadians, except that now due to the policies of the Carney Liberals, most of those summer jobs are going to temporary foreign workers. Canadian youth are being cut out of the summer job market as a direct result of Carney’s policies.
Well this is a positive thing and should be expected. A lot of student summer jobs have started along with it being construction season. Hopefully these jobs went to actual Canadians who have been struggling to find work.

These jobs are summer jobs that happen every year at this time and the added jobs from FIFA’s world cup such as security. So NOTHING has been created by the Liberals. They are just spinning the numbers that happen every year and a one time event to make it seem that their policies are actually doing something when in fact they are not.
So reducing the foreign workers program that caused an increase in youth employment is the best news the liberal have to counter recession talks?

This article fails to answer some important questions. Are these full time jobs for young Canadians seasonal? Are these jobs low, medium or high paid and skilled jobs? Are these jobs mostly temporary or do they provide a career path? Make a true analysis of the job increases and jobs loses not just through some numbers out there and say we are doing just fine because that sounds like federal propaganda. Very dis appointing.

Lets say you have a family member that is a gambling addict. You can love them, think they are great, and still think they are going the wrong direction.
You can want the best for them, but telling them you love them and how great they are, while they are ruining their life, is not love in my opinion.

Well isn’t this convenient, we are in a technical recession according to the experts and miraculously we created more jobs unexpectedly. Canadians know how bad our economy is and these smoke and mirrors numbers are not going to convince anyone
