EDMONTON – Police are looking for a man suspected of firing bullets at an SUV, narrowly missing the children who were inside.
The shots followed an apparent road rage incident that happened just before 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Police say the targeted vehicle was travelling west on the Whitemud, (which turns into 79 Ave.) in the area of the Enoch Cree Casino, when its driver got into a verbal altercation with the driver of a Lincoln SUV in front of him.
“After they had a brief encounter the SUV pulled around and went in front of the Lincoln. Shortly thereafter, his rear window exploded and we found a bullet lodged in the back window,” said RCMP Cpl. Colette Zazulak of the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain detachment.
“There were five children in the vehicle under the age of 14. There was a total of seven occupants. There were three young girls sitting in the back seat,” Zazulak added. “The one bullet did lodge in the back seat. It was stopped by some metal.”
Zazulak says several other shell casings were found in the area.
