Recent rainfall in Alberta has the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority (SWA) issuing another advisory/warning for the South Saskatchewan River, this time upstream from Lake Diefenbaker.
The SWA says flows will rise significantly over the weekend and into next week. Flows are expected to reach 3,000 cubic-metres-per-second in the river basin with river rising approximately 3 metres.
The peak is expected to reach the Alberta/Saskatchewan border late Sunday or Monday.
Levels in Lake Diefenbaker are expected to rise 1.5 metres over the next 10 days, however the SWA says outflow from Gardiner Dam will remain unchanged at this time.
On Thursday, the SWA issued an advisory downstream from the Gardiner Dam after increasing the outflow due to the recent rain in Alberta.
Meanwhile, outflow from Rafferty Reservoir will be increased immediately in response to recent rainfall.
Outflow will be increased by 15 cubic-metres-per-second on Saturday and a further 30 cubic-metres-per-second on Sunday.
Souris River water levels will increase and the rate of flow through Estevan should reach 100 cubic-metres-per-second.
Officials say flows could be increased if current forecasts for rain early next week in southeast Saskatchewan happen.
SWA says landowners in the river valley should take necessary actions to protect themselves and their property.
