KELOWNA — More than 30 people are out of a job following Tuesday’s announcement from Ashland Performance Materials that it’s closing its plant in Kelowna
The company produces polyester resin and gelcoat and is located near Lake Country.
The company says it’s closing its plant, located on McCarthy Road in Kelowna, at the end of June, 2014.
Ashland says the downturn of the economy and the closing of the rail line to Kelowna last summer are some of the reasons behind the closure.
It says its six remaining facilities in North America will remain open.
The Kelowna plant employs 32 people.
