SASKATOON – So far this weekend in Saskatoon, 13 water main breaks have occurred between Friday evening and early Sunday afternoon.
Eleven water main breaks occurred in a 26-hour period, shattering last weekend’s record of seven over the same period.
This amount is well above the average for this time of year, but the City of Saskatoon is anticipating breaks to slow down as the temperature warms up later this week.

The city is trying to restore water service at ten locations, but extreme cold can affect equipment and the amount of time workers can be outside.
All available staff and contractors are focused on isolating the locations of the breaks, preparing the sites for excavation and repairs.
Water service is currently off at the following locations:
- 74 Phillips Crescent (water trailer on-site)
- 2421 Ewart Avenue (water trailer on-site)
- 500-block of 6th Street East (water trailer on-site)
- 1300 7th Avenue North (water trailer on-site)
- 2903 Ferguson Avenue
- Diefenbaker Drive between Fairlight Drive and 22nd Street West
- 300 Bate Crescent
- 1326 Ave Y North
- 3225 11th Street West
- 141 Pacific Avenue
Affected residents and businesses can access drinking water from emergency water supply trailers located nearby until the service is restored.
Precautionary drinking water advisories will be in effect once water is restored.
The city is asking residents in areas prone to water main breaks to be prepared by having extra drinking water stored.
It is recommended to have a three-day supply prepared, which comes to 11.4 litres per person.
