Embattled MLA Raj Sherman announced Friday that he would be launching a campaign this weekend for leadership of Alberta’s Liberal party. The announcement was made via social networking site Twitter.
Earlier this year Sherman, then an independent MLA, expressed interest in one day running for Premier. In March, Sherman applied for a Liberal party membership, though he continues to sit as an independent.
Sherman was ousted from the Conservative Caucus last November after criticizing the Tories’ handling of health care.
This weekend, Alberta Liberals will be holding their 2011 Convention as well as a Special General Meeting. The first official forum of the 2011 Alberta Liberal Party Leadership Contest is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
