A Coquitlam man has been charged in the murder of his sister, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has confirmed.
IHIT was called to a townhouse in the 2900-block of Panorama Drive in Coquitlam around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
On Monday, 27-year-old Jarek Paderewski was charged with the second-degree murder of his sister, 33-year-old Maja Paderewska, also of Coquitlam.
Jarek made his first court appearance Monday afternoon. IHIT confirms he was not previously known to police.
“The motive for this homicide is not yet known and IHIT continues working with the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS) and the Coquitlam RCMP to collect evidence at the residence where the homicide occurred,” said Sgt. Adam MacIntosh of IHIT.
