CALGARY – Residents of northwest Calgary will be receiving their black carts within the month.

Deliveries begin today and will continue over the next four weeks. They will be delivered between 7:00a.m. and 7:00p.m. Monday to Saturday. Residents don’t need to be home to have their cart delivered.

The carts are similar to the blue recycling carts and will be used for garbage collection by trucks equipped with automated arms.

Residents should begin using their black cart as soon as they get it and should set it out on their regular garbage collection day.

Southwest Calgary residents will receive their black carts next month.

Approximately 160,000 residents within the northwest and southwest quadrants will receive the bin by the end of June.

Residents can recycle their old garbage cans for free by dropping them off at Throw “˜N Go facilities at the Shepard Landfill, East Calgary Landfill or Spyhill Landfill until June 30th.

Information on how to use your black cart can be found at www.calgary.ca/blackcart or by calling 3-1-1.
