Attempted abduction at north Edmonton school

Parents of students who attend Montrose School are being warned to keep a close eye on their children after an attempted abduction Wednesday afternoon.

It’s the third such incident at the school since the beginning of the year.

Around 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon a young girl was approached by a man while playing in the school playground.

"He grabbed her, covered her mouth and tried to drag her away," principal Raelene Finlayson said in a letter issued to parents on Thursday.

The girl was able to break free and run away. The Edmonton Police Service has been notified and is now investigating.

An information session is set to take place next week where parents will have the opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions of police representatives.
