South Shore predator arrested by police

LONGUEUIL – Eduard Stefan Geogrgescu has been arrested by Longueuil police after being linked to 11 cases of sexual assault in Longueuil and 16 other cases in and around the island of Montreal.

The assaults took place between 2007 and 2012 and the victims range between the ages of 13 to 29 years old.

In 2010, police released a video of the suspect hoping it would bring more information.

They received 350 tips but it wasn’t until a victim in Montreal identified a robocall picture that Longueuil police put out that they got a break in the case.

Georgescu was arrested on Friday while serving time in Montreal for another sex related crime.

Police say they had their suspicions about him before, but his DNA was not in the DNA bank until he got caught in Montreal and was serving time.

He faces 32 criminal charges including armed sexual assault, sexual assault forcible confinement, possession of a fire arm, criminal harassment, threats and attempted kidnapping.

Longueuil police say its the largest sex crimes case they’ve cracked.

Police say he worked alone and targeted victims near to the Panama bus terminal in Brossard.
