The playoff schedule for the men’s hockey tournament at the Sochi Winter Olympics is all but done, with just the biggest game in the tournament left to play.
Team Canada advanced straight to the quarterfinals with their 2-1 overtime win against Finland on Sunday. They then advanced to the semifinals after defeating Latvia 2-1 on Wednesday.
Latvian netminder Kristers Gudlevskis played the game of his life, stopping 55 of Canada’s 57 shots. The Canadians managed to score with seven minutes to go in the third period.
Sweden advanced to the semifinals after easily beating Slovenia. They played Finland, who eliminated host team Russia 3-1 on Wednesday.
As expected, the U.S. beat the Czech Republic, advancing to the semifinals where they play Team Canada.
