Three killed in highway rollover; six others in hospital

Three people, including a 13-year-old girl, were killed while six others were taken to hospital following a single-vehicle rollover on a northwest Saskatchewan highway.

According to RCMP, members from the Beauval detachment responded Thursday around 7:30 a.m. to a rollover at the junction of Highway 965 and the road to Canoe Narrows. A minivan, which RCMP say had 10 occupants, lost control and rolled multiple times into a wooded area along the side of the road, ejecting several of the occupants from the vehicle.

Two males along with the 13-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene. Six people were taken to Ile-a-la Crosse hospital, including one in critical condition.

The 14-year-old girl driving the vehicle was not hurt. She is in police custody, say RCMP.

An RCMP accident reconstructionist is at the scene and assisting with the investigation.

Canoe Narrows is approximately 440 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
