The HST in B.C.

The B.C. government implemented HST on July 1, 2010.

The HST rate is 12%.

Ottawa committed $1.6 billion in transition funding to B.C. when the province signed the agreement to introduce HST.

However, the agreement also states B.C. must repay the entire amount if it cancels the HST during the first five years the tax is in place.
