Avalanche control impeding Highway 1 traffic

REVELSTOKE — It’s been slow going or no-going on some sections of the Trans Canada because of Tuesday’s heavy snowfall. 

Highway 1 between Craigellachie and Revelstoke has been closed since Tuesday night because of a high avalanche hazard.

DriveBC says avalanche control was supposed to begin at 11 and the highway should be re-opened by 1 p.m. Wednesday.

 It’s slow going on Highway 1 through Glacier National Park because of avalanche control. Travelers are being advised that the wait could be up to four hours. 

Environment Canada is calling for more snow and DriveBC says that more avalanche control is possible.
