Freestyle skier Dara Howell of Huntsville, Ont. won the gold in women’s ski slopestyle on Tuesday, while teammate Kim Lamarre of Quebec City took the bronze.

Howell spoke to reporters about the support she received from her hometown that allowed her to participate in the 2014 Olympics which resulted in her win.
“They [Huntsville] supported me from the beginning,” said Howell. “I don’t think they expected a gold medal out of me but I think that by just bringing this [gold medal] home, they are super proud of me.”
